Ishinomaki Laboratory pushes the horizons of DIY through the power of design. Founded in 2011 as a public workshop for a community devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami, it began by running workshops and rebuilding local shops - then launched its label to share its honest, handmade furniture with the world.
Talented designers from Japan and abroad work alongside the Ishinomaki team to create benches, stools, shelves and tables with a frank, functional beauty and a meaningful story.
