Keep ShoppingThe Barca lounge chair is constructed from bowed pieces of ash wood that are meticulously joined together into a sculptural shape using traditional boat manufacturing techniques.
Designed for easy dismantling, the timber pieces slide easily past each other to form the Barca into an array of shapes from symmetrically zen to strikingly chaotic.
The innovative Barca won the coveted ‘Gold Leaf’ distinction at the International Furniture Design Competition Ashahikawa ( IFDA ), in Ashahikawa.

Jakob Jørgensen mainly works with wood and steel, and likes to explore possible new expressions in what is, mildly put, a thoroughly tested materials. He carefully ponders the issues he addresses, and once having a clear idea, he goes into his workshop and proceeds to create models and other experiments to shape ideas into finished products. Products with a sculptural expression is always his aim. In his design he strives to create something that looks like an art piece but also fits naturally into everyday life as a functional object. Jakob Jørgensen has exhibited at Galerie Maria Wettergren in Paris and taken part in the Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition since 2009. In 2011 he received the Bodum Design Award together with Line Depping. In connection with this award, he exhibited at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. In 2008 he won a gold leaf IFDA (International Furniture Design Fair Asahikawa) in Japan, and his winning piece Barca went into production by CondeHouse.
