The first collaboration between Naoto Fukasawa and Conde House resulted in KAMUY, a dining furniture collection. KAMUY means holy spirits in the language of Hokkaido’s indigenous people (Ainu), which has grown to be one of our most popular collections. YUKAR means epic poems in the Ainu language. We, by naming these consecutive collections as KAMUY and YUKAR, express our feeling of awe and appreciation for Nature.
The sofa is featured tapered legs, a finely-designed arm shape, and a broad solid-wood back rail. All the applied finish colours are selected to match the wood character of the sofa to create a warm atmosphere. By changing the positions of the optional cushions, users can make their own sofa according to their use and taste.

About Naoto Fukasawa
Born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1956. Naoto Fukasawa has worked at Seiko Epson and ID Two (now IDEO San Francisco), founding and heading up IDEO’s Tokyo office. On 2003 Fukasawa went independent and established NAOTO FUKASAWA DESIGN. Fukasawa has established a reputation for his quietly powerful designs and philosophies embodying human sentiment. He has collaborated with numerous international companies and brands. His designs span a wide variety of fields, from home accessories and precision electronic equipment to mobility, furniture, interior spaces and architecture. Fukasawa is the recipient of numerous design awards, he has been accorded the title of Royal Designer for Industry (Royal Society of Arts) and received the Isamu Noguchi Award in 2018. He is a professor at Tama Art University. Since 2012, he is also the curator of The Japan Folk Crafts Museum.
