Keep ShoppingOne year after the reissue of the UNI-rest sofa, the high-back type UNI-rest high was launched in 2019. The twisted armrests are a distinctive feature of both models and have been shaved and reworked to fit the hand and arm more comfortably than the original until Kai was satisfied with the fit.
Miyazaki chair factory completed the Uni Rest High with thorough attention to comfort, sewing details and workability. The shape and angle of the seat surface have been carefully designed to create a moulded seat that is easy to sit on. The combination with the ottoman from the same series (sold separately) offers an even wider range of relaxing styles.
The standard pillow cushions are height-adjustable to comfort people of all builds. The narrow arm design also makes the chair smaller than standard high-back chairs, and it is designed to take up less space in the room. This chair allows you to spend long, relaxing, quality time in your home without sacrificing compact comfort.

Kai Kristiansen is among the most innovative and talented Danish designers of the mid-20th century. He was born in 1929 and trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. His mentor was the famed father of modern Danish furniture design, Kaare Klint. Kristiansen excelled as a cabinetmaker and, in 1955, set up his design workshop. His talent was quickly recognised by some of Denmark's finest cabinet makers, and the result is some of the most stunning furniture produced during the mid-century era. Kristiansen was a multifaceted designer who was comfortable designing a range of furniture. His work is defined by clean lines and a perfect balance of form and function. He created some of the most desirable lounge, dining, and office furniture of the day in luxurious teak and rosewood. As an avid supporter of furniture design, Kristiansen also organised many of the large furniture fairs in Denmark during the 1960s. Today, his designs are some of the most highly coveted examples of mid-century furniture to emerge from Denmark.
